Love Food & Romance


Love and romance is revealed through the relationships between Martha and Lina and then Lina and Mario. The relationships between Martha and Lina can be described as a connection that lacks both love and companionship in many ways. The way that they both needed to be loved worked out in a way that was beneficial to them both. Lina craved to be loved by someone else, while Martha needed to love and care for someone else other than herself. Martha whole world revolved around here career and her  love for food. Even when regarding her love life, her love for food still played an humongous role. For example, when trying to have dinner in a romantic way with Sam she couldn’t help but to go back to her comfort zone which is food. Also when it comes to Martha and Mario he knew her comfort zone was food. Mario understood one order to get Martha to open up and show her vulnerability he had to make her comfortable. He was able to enter her life because Mario let food represent a stable and comfortable environment him and Martha’s romantic relationship.


The love for food in the film is clearly displayed in many different ways in the film. For instance one of them being a common connection between Martha and Mario that helps they relationship to blossom into something more. Food helped Martha and Mario to open up to one another and fall deeply in love. As you can see the bond over food helped a love between two people emerge into something beautiful. This beautiful love was later shown by their decision to marry. Food also played a significantly part between her and her sister Lina. When trying to figure things out with Lina, she had to come up with a “recipe” that will work for them both. Overtime a recipe is created that helps them both to have an healthy relationship. Lastly, at the end you are able to see how food helped Martha to build an relationship romantically and family wise. Martha was able to use food as a connection when it came to love, family and romance.
